Real Estate Tech: The Platform Disrupting Canadian Real Estate Industry

In 2013, Ray Jaff moved from Hamilton to Toronto. He began looking for apartments. By the time he had filled out lengthy applications and submitted offers, the places were already taken. The idea behind Casalova was born.

Founded in November 2014, Casalova is a full-service, end-to- end real estate marketplace and licensed brokerage operating in 140 Canadian cities with over 120,000 exclusive and on-market listings. The company has received a $2.5-million investment from Aviva Ventures and last year acquired MyPM, a professional property management group that manages residential properties in the Greater Toronto Area.

In this opening keynote and fireside chat moderated by Rachel Oliver, Ray will discuss the latest real estate industry trends, current and future market conditions, tips on overcoming challenges for both rentals and investments, and the steps he is taking towards becoming the go-to real estate platform for Canadians.

HOW TO INVEST IN COMMERCIAL REAL ESTATE

Ask any real estate professional about the benefits of investing in commercial property, and you'll likely trigger a monologue on how such properties are a better deal than residential real estate. Commercial property owners love the additional cash flow, the beneficial economies of scale, the relatively open playing field, the abundant market for good, affordable property managers and the bigger payoff from commercial real estate.
In this session, our speaker will teach you how to make a successful commercial real estate acquisition and the things to consider before doing so.
